Pompeii guided tour

What makes the visit of our tour guide in Pompeii so special?

You’ll have your own private tour guide, an expert archaeologist with a great command of the  English language. He will help you purchase the entrance fees and find the best way to visit most of the ruins away from the crowds.

Pompeii is a must see place for at the least two great reasons: First of all, it is the only place in the world where one can find an entire Roman city two thousand years later, incredibly intact! In addition, because of its fate, Pompeii was buried with ashes and pumice stones during the 79 AD eruption of Mt Vesuvius. We have rediscovered all the statues, frescos, day-to-day objects, and many more things.
The itinerary of this Pompeii tour is special and different from all the others: you’ll have the chance to explore the oldest Arena of the world.

Why is the Pompeii visit of our tour guide so unique ?

When strolling along the streets of Pompeii, it brings out indescribable inner emotions: you are suddenly immersed in a town dating back to the 1st century AD. The conditions of the monuments, in many parts of the Pompeii ruins, are so amazing that when in that split moment, you don’t see any visitors walking in the streets around you, it feels like at any moment an ancient tunic-dressed inhabitant will come out from one of those houses.

Once you reach the panoramic point overlooking Pompeii, your eyes meet the infinity of the city which opens in front of you: more than 110 acres of homes, temples and public buildings, and still so much more to dig and discover!

What about the plaster casts that touch the heart of every visitor; the inhabitants of Pompeii were caught by surprise with toxic gas and pumice stones that left them frozen in the exact position they were in for two thousand years.

Therefore it is easy to see why Pompeii is a “paradise” for archaeologists, historians and in general for all those who love the Roman world.

Some information about Pompeii:

Mt. Vesuvius had been dormant for hundreds of years until the early morning of August 24th in the year 79 AD, when the Vesuvius suddenly erupted with clouds of hot ashes and a storm of pumice stones that rained down on the densely populated area at the foot of the volcano.

The city of Pompeii was buried with ashes and hidden for seventeen hundred years. Its’ people were largely killed and the quiet life of the town was petrified in that instant disaster hit.

In the sixteenth century in the Sarno River valley, during the reclamation works, the architect Domenico Fontana discovered some inscriptions and remains of an old building but systematic excavations began only in 1748 with Charles of Bourbon.
