This Pompeii and Herculaneum private tour maximizes the quality of the visit because it is led by an archaeologist, but at the same time, costs are reduced because the private car with driver is eliminated: the Circumvesuviana public train will take us from Pompeii to Herculaneum.

With this tour we’ll have 3 hours to explore the highlights of Pompeii: Porta Marina, the Forum (main square), the plaster casts, the House of the Faun, the Thermal Baths, the bakery, the Termopolium, and the Theaters.
Two hours in Herculaneum will then be sufficient for exploring the ruins.

Itinerary of this tour

We’ll meet by the Bar Sgambati, close to the “Pompei Villa dei Misteri” railway station. I’ll hold a signpost with your name written on it.
Three-hour guided tour with me in Pompeii
One-hour break for a snack or a pizza in one the little restaurants/bars close to the ruins
Transfer from Pompeii to Herculaneum by public train (Circumvesuviana) – 20-minute train journey + 10 minute walk for reaching Herculaneum ruins. Normally we do not have problems, but it could happen that the train is crowded and so we have to stand for the 20 minute journey.
Two-hour guided tour with me in Herculaneum
We’ll walk back to the Herculaneum train station together.
I’ll help you buy the train tickets there, I’ll give you all the information you need for reaching your accommodation and then the tour ends.

Pompeii exerts an intense charm on the visitor: buried by the 79 AD eruption of Mt Vesuvius, the flourishing town of Pompeii was completely forgotten for hundreds of years, until the eighteenth century, when excavations began, still today bringing the treasures of Roman times to light. During the tour you will be able to visit richly decorated public and private buildings.

With its narrow streets, its shops and its frescoed houses, Herculaneum is considered better preserved than Pompeii. The Vesuvian city is however unjustly less famous than Pompeii.

We’ll meet in Pompeii at the Bar Sgambati, close to the “Pompei Villa dei Misteri” railway station. I’ll have a board with your name written on it. This private guided tour of Pompeii lasts 3 hours. After the tour we’ll have a one-hour break for a pizza or a snack (not included) in the vicinity of the ruins. From Pompeii we’ll travel to Herculaneum by train (20 minutes + 10 minute walk down to the ruins). After the visit of Herculaneum, this tour ends at the Circumvesuviana train station of Herculaneum: I’ll help you buy the train tickets and give you all the information you need to reach your accommodation.

**IN POMPEII: Skip the line access
*** IN HERCULANEUM: We do not have the skip the line access, but while you use the toilets, I’ll buy your entrance tickets.

IMPORTANT: it is advisable to wear comfortable shoes as the tour takes place entirely on foot.

After my three-hour Pompeii visit, for reaching Herculaneum, we’ll use the Circumvesuviana public train. Normally we do not have problems, but if the train is crowded, we may have to stand for the 20 minute journey.
